“Anyone who does anything in his or her life to help a child is a hero to me.”

— Fred Rogers

Our Mission

CAIAC is organized to support the NC Iredell & Alexander counties volunteer Guardian ad Litem (GaL) program and the needs of the abused and neglected children they serve. Support of the program has three primary facets:

  • Provision of needed items to children such as food, diapers, clothing, beds, or toys.

  • Provision of enrichment opportunities for children such as music lessons, tutoring, school trips, and scholarships.

  • Recruitment, retention, and recognition of GaL volunteers.

CAIAC executes its mission through generous donations from our community — we are extremely thankful for our donors!

Serving our community

  • Meeting needs

CAIAC is organized to support Iredell & Alexander Counties' volunteer Guardian ad Litem program and the needs of the abused and neglected children they serve. CAIAC will self fund or find donations for necessities such as food, diapers, clothing, beds, or toys. Providing a simple toiletries bag as children are moved into placement care can mean a world of difference in a child’s life.

  • Providing enrichment

Reaching beyond food, clothing, and necessities, and leveraging our network of generous contributors, CAIAC works to support enrichment opportunities for children in its targeted population. Music lessons, music instruments, prom clothing; and, in some cases, cell phones and reliable used cars are just some examples of what CAIAC has been able to provide to mitigate some of the loss these children are coping with.

  • GaL program support

Could you be the voice for a child? Guardian ad Litem (GAL) is a North Carolina Administrative Office of the Courts program. The District Juvenile Court System appoints volunteer Guardians ad Litem teamed with an attorney to advocate for children who have been abused and/or neglected and are in the custody of the local Department of Health and Human Services.
